Kinship Families is a support group for people raising their relative’s children held at the Allen Neighborhood Center, where you are free to:

  • Share concerns related to your kinship family
  • Make connections with other kinship families
  • Receive information about kinship resources, i.e. legal and medical assistance
  • Enjoy free snacks and childcare while you share a few hours with other kinship caregivers
  • Attend informational workshops about kinship issues
  • Gather kinship family resources and legal information
  • Listen to educational speakers

What are Kinship Families?

Any relative raising another relative’s child — most commonly, grandparents raising their grandchildren.

Support group meetings are the second Saturday of each month, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM at Allen Neighborhood Center, 1619 E Kalamazoo St.  For more information, contact Francine Watts (email) at (517) 367-2468, ext. 2006.
