Roberto Torres is the Executive Director of Allen Neighborhood Center. A longtime public servant, community leader, and Desert Storm veteran, Roberto has spent the past 30 years working to strengthen neighborhoods and advocating alongside communities. 

Most recently, he served as the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs and Economic Inclusion for the City of Detroit, where he helped make Detroit a more welcoming city for immigrants and refugees.

Before his time in Detroit, Roberto led the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan and the Northwest Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He has also served in several mayoral administrations and in elected office as Vice President of the Toledo Board of Education. A longtime advocate for education and community development, he helped found Adelante, Inc., a Latino family resource center, and founded Escuela SMART, a bilingual/bicultural charter school in Ohio.
